SUSTAINABILITY
United Nations Global Compact
Consistent with the Global Compact’s ten principles, Prysmian adopts policies and tools that safeguard the environment, human rights and workers’ rights while supporting the most vulnerable local communities. These tools include Prysmian's sustainability policy, which prepares guidelines for all Group companies and activities based on priority strategies defined in the medium- and long-term business plan and translated into real actions. The Group implements these guidelines through a set of stringent, transparency-driven annual targets aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the feedback received from Stakeholders. These targets are defined under the Group's two strategic ambitions, the Climate Change Ambition and the Social Ambition, and the Sustainability Scorecard.
Prysmian's adherence to and compliance with the principles of the Global Compact are also reflected in its common and shared approach to business. It is an honest, ethical approach that complies with applicable laws and regulations, which all Group employees are expected to respect, wherever in the world they work and live. This approach is defined both in the Code of Ethics, which is a kind of "Constitution" of the Group, and in its Human Rights Policy, defined in line with the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
People have always been at the heart of Prysmian's ESG strategy. Therefore, Prysmian is committed to developing an organization that prioritizes talent, skills, multiplicity of experiences, different cultural backgrounds, and, in general, all forms of diversity. In fostering such a diverse environment Prysmian wants people to feel respected, valued and free to express their full human potential, and this requires the recognition of diversity and inclusion as one of the main pillars of the corporate culture.
Prysmian's fully integrated ESG approach requires the Group to operate through real actions: reducing the environmental impact of its own activities and those of its suppliers; facilitating the use of clean energy as an enabler of the energy transition; and innovating its products and solutions to guide customers in achieving their climate change-related goals.
Prysmian shares with the UN Global Compact and its stakeholders its progress in the following key areas on an annual basis: human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. This commitment is further evidence of Prysmian's transparency and in achieving its sustainability goals and reporting about them, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
